If you’re on a Plus, Pro, or Team plan, you might’ve noticed a shiny new Agent toggle in your Tools menu. If not, don’t worry, it’s rolling out in waves, and, yeah, EU folks, you might be waiting a bit longer. Sorry about that—tech rollouts, right?So, what’s the big deal? Agent Mode basically spins up a private little virtual computer for you. It can click through websites, log into apps, and handle multi-step jobs—like, say, “Agent, build me a SWOT analysis on my top three competitors and drop it in Google Sheets.” And then you can, I dunno, go make a cup of tea while it does the heavy lifting. I wish i could tell you more but I don't have it yet either. I did however ask ChatGPT 3o to do that SWOT analysis and it was amazing.Now, safety-wise, OpenAI’s put in some brakes. The agent pauses if it’s about to do anything irreversible, and it keeps a replay log so you can see exactly what happened. That’s a relief, especially if you’re a bit of a control freak like me. But if you don’t have access yet, or you’re just not ready to dive in, there are alternatives. Zapier Agents can handle basic cross-app automation, and if you’re living in Microsoft Teams, Copilot Studio is worth a look—both have free tiers, so you can experiment without commitment. A small word of caution on this though - Sam Altman, CEO of Openai, said ' Although the utility is significant, so are the potential risks....' he continues 'There is more risk in tasks like “Look at my emails that came in overnight and do whatever you need to do to address them, don’t ask any follow up questions”. This could lead to untrusted content from a malicious email tricking the model into leaking your data.' My first thoughts on reading this was that there could be many more opportunities for scammers to take advantage of those who aren't aware of how advanced tech has become. Stay aware people and keep an eye on your family, make sure they are extra vigilant.That said, I can see the opportunities for businesses, imagine asking it to access your calendar and then prep meeting notes based on recent updates. Online shopping, holiday bookings - the list is endless. Anyway, once you’ve got an agent doing the grunt work, you’ll want to make sure the results actually get seen. Which brings us to LinkedIn—because what’s the point of all this automation if no one’s engaging with your content?So, LinkedIn just shook things up with a new algorithm update that happened on July 16th. If you’ve been posting and wondering why your reach is all over the place, this is probably why. Every post now hits a spam filter, then goes through what they’re calling a 60-minute engagement test. Basically, LinkedIn’s watching to see if your post gets meaningful engagement—comments, not just likes—within that first hour. If it does, it gets pushed out to more people, even beyond your immediate network.Here’s the kicker: comments are way more valuable than likes now. So, if you want your post to go the distance, you need to spark real conversations. And there’s this little trick—commenting on other people’s posts before you publish your own actually primes the algorithm. It’s like, I dunno, warming up before a run. I would advise you schedule one value-driven post, park yourself for an hour to reply to every comment, and aim for at least five genuine comments on other people’s stuff. Then, let your feed breathe for half a day before posting again. If you drop two posts within 12 hours, the second one gets throttled. I learned that the hard way—posted twice in a morning, and the second one just tanked. If you’re running a channel that’s mostly voice-over slideshows, you could be at risk of demonetization—especially if, like, 30% of your uploads look the same. They want to see unique visuals, fresh B-roll, and, ideally, your face on camera. It’s a bit more work, but the upside is that authentic creators—people doing tutorials, tours, or face-forward explainers—are getting a clearer runway for ad revenue.I actually helped a friend audit their channel last week. We scanned their last 20 uploads, and, yeah, we are optimising the channel for success. She will be filming long form videos, some of which will have B roll and the long video will be broken down into shorts.
